The idea was to create a full font out of everyday objects. I wanted something simple, unique and colorful.
As I was walking down the street, I found a leaf that looked like the letter C and it was instant inspiration. I used an exacto knife to create the letters, took a photo of each one, brought them into Photoshop to isolate each leaf and then laid them on a black background for the best contrast value.
It was a challenge to create 26 unique letters and make them legible. But it was a fantastic experience.
I love how earthy and unique the letters are while being visually interesting with the different edges and repetition of veins. It was a fun project to create and it was definitely a journey into a different kind of mixed media art.
